Every once in a while we are hit with a really challenging wedding day.
As wedding photographers we are subject to inclement weather of all types and Viktoriya and Sean’s wedding definitely had inclement weather!
CP24 had this to say. “Heavy rain, high winds and even hail was reported across Toronto, the GTA and parts of southern Ontario tonight as a powerful summer storm hit the region. Arnold Ashton, severe weather meteorologist for Environment Canada, told CP24 Sunday night that sporadic storm damage, including downed trees and power lines, has been reported from the Bruce Peninsula all the way to the Toronto area. “It was pretty powerful,” Ashton said of the storm. “This one sure packed a punch.”
And pack a punch it did!
The sky darkened almost as soon as we started photographing them among the beautiful cedars for portraits, just after their first look.
Opting for an outdoor ceremony we watched as the sky got darker and darker.
At the end of the ceremony I literally mumbled under my breath “hurry up and kiss, hurry up and kiss…”
And within seconds of their first kiss it started to rain. Then thunder. Then pour. We ran for cover, while taking family photos indoors.
After the heavy rains, and high winds settled, and the table wiped dry, the first dance was held under the early evening open sky.
As we left the wedding that night, we came across some downed trees across the road as we exited the venue. Cedars.
Cedars that had fallen right where we were shooting earlier that day!
Well Viktoriya and Sean, you definitely gave us a challenge and I’ll not forget your wedding for years and years to come!
Here are my favorite’s from your special day.
