Isn’t funny how a new year brings with it new hopes and dreams?
Watching 2012 turn in to 2013 was like that for me. My children are getting older, and I’m getting older too. I decided it was time to really make some changes and work really hard on taking this great company of mine to new heights and new places. And then I saw Justin and Mary Marantz offering a workshop in New York City called the “What’s next tour”.
What’s next? That was the question. Where do I go from here?
This was exactly what I needed. I needed to explore the “what’s next” for me. So this past Sunday, Daniela Foster ( from Daniela Foster Photography ) and I headed to New York.
At the workshop, we realized a lot of truths. It was good. It made me think and assess, and maybe even grow.
What I took away most from the workshop was:
1. That my biggest goal for 2013 is to be as authentic in this business as I know how to be. That means that you will see a few changes coming to this blog soon. Changes that reflect more of who I am. What makes me tell a story through my photography the way I do. The way only I can because of who I am.
2. That I will be judged. Not everyone will like the more authentic me, but in that judgement to consider the source and either grow and get better, or let it go.
3. And finally that I will sometimes fail. And I’m ok with that. I would rather fail at something and move on than to regret never having tried it in the first place.
So with all of that said, I am working on some changes that you will be seeing shortly.
Love them or hate them, but hopefully you won’t find them boring!
Here are some of the photos from our trip.
